David is co-founder and program director at Urban Nomad Film Fest and Freakout Music Fest, building it from underground warehouse film parties circa 2002 to a major Taiwanese showcase for film, music and art. A journalist and writer on art, music and culture for more than 20 years working for print, TV and radio, he’s been staff writer for Taipei Times, editor for POTS, Taiwan desk editor for Art AsiaPacific, and contributor to New York Times, South China Morning Post, Far Eastern Economic Review, Art in America, The Wire, the Barbican and others. He’s been a volunteer for Fujirockers.org since 2002, writing about the Fuji Rock Festival. A native of North Carolina in the US, he’s lived in Taiwan since 1995.
